A modern outdoor outfitters store with high tech gear and gadgets, books, and the necessary T-shirts . . . all in a rustic setting. Not only can hikers on the Appalachian Trail find supplies, showers, mail and a place to wash clothes, they can also have their picture taken and “sign in” as they pause at this hospitable stop. Day hikers or other visitors can enjoy the beauty of the spot and the history it preserves and maybe even say hello to a thru-hiker as they pass through the only covered spot on the trail.
This is a must stay as you are greeted by some of the nicest people on the AT. In fact, the bunkhouse has a warm and friendly hiker named “Pirate” who lives at the bunkhouse and volunteers to help other Thru-Hikers.

As the 2008 Season begins on the AT, you can bet there will be thousands of people that walk through the famous archway under Mountain Crossings. There will also be thousands of boxes sent home with stuff pulled out of heavy backpacks.
Check out the Video called “The first 30 Miles” and get a real feel for Mountain Crossings at Walasi-Yi-Center at Neel Gap.
