There has been some great debate among gear manufactures to exactly what rain material breathes better. In fact, many people say that Event breathes better than Gore-Tex. This demonstration shows that they actually transfer water vapor at the same rate.

Interesting demonstration. As you say, it looks like both fabrics perform at the same level.
Trouble is, I’ve tried them both in the real word. I was a die-hard Gore-Tex fan for many years. Bought my first Event jacket a year ago, and it blew me away. I’ve hiked in the rain for hours and stayed far drier than I ever did with Gore-Tex.
Sorry guys, I ain’t never going back.
