A short film featuring Andrew Lee, Matthew Moore, and Patrick O’Malley includes the stunning New Mexico wilderness. Shot during our May trek over five days. A short trip in the scheme of things, but long enough to burn a place in our memories for a lifetime.

The Santa Fe National Forest is one of five national forests in New Mexico. National Forests are America’s great outdoors, here to serve the American people at work and play. Some of the finest mountain scenery in the Southwest is found in the 1.6 million acre Santa Fe National Forest. Elevations rise from 5,300 to 13,103 feet at the summit of Truchas Peak, located within the Pecos Wilderness.

The first 2 1/2 miles are all in beautiful tree covered forest and as you begin to get over 11,000 feet, you begin to see groves of Aspen. I think there were also Birch trees further down the trail, but it was difficult to tell.

The Beattys trail is 22.5 miles long. It begins at Jack’s Creek Trailhead and ends at the Santa Barbara TH on the Carson National Forest.

I created TheBackpackerTV because of my passion for the outdoors and seeing nature up close and personal. To share my experiences, and the experiences of others for everyone to enjoy. We go watch hundreds of videos each month picking the very best for you. Enjoy!
