Founded in Lander, Wyoming in 1965 by legendary mountaineer Paul Petzoldt, the non-profit National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) teaches outdoor skills, conservation techniques, leadership and wilderness medicine to over 10,000 people each year. The decades since NOLS founding have also forged a unique community based in wilderness, built on our teaching mission, focused on our students, and reliant on our staff and volunteers.
We believe positive, ethical leaders change the world. Based on this belief, NOLS has, over the last 46 years, become the leader in wilderness education. Founded in 1965 by legendary mountaineer Paul Petzoldt, NOLS takes students of all ages on remote wilderness expeditions and teaches them technical outdoor skills, leadership, and environmental ethics.
I personally have followed NOLS for years. I really respect what they do, and how they give back to the outdoor community. Both in teaching, and in life. Congrats on Decades of Community.
